The East Side Core Loop was groomed Saturday evening (Feb. 28) -- the classic track was removed, the surface of the icy crust was ground to create a thin topping of 'sugar snow'. Monday skating conditions were FAST and manageable on the Core Loop, challenging on the downhills. There's an icy section halfway between #21 and #22 -- be careful! Watch for deteriorating conditions as temps warm up this next week.
Trails other than the Core Loop have a fair amount of trail litter from recent brisk winds, the surface is rock hard crusty/icy after an overnight freeze, the base is thinning, and spots with glare ice will be melting to bare ground with the forecast warm temps. Still skiable if you catch a softening surface and are prepared to navigate thin/bare spots.
