Blue Hills Trail CONDITIONS
We have a nice amount of snow to start our ski season. But until the base is thicker, use your rock skis - or 'B' skis.
East Side: Since Sunday (November 30th), all of the East Side has been groomed with a roller with a comb that leaves a corduroy surface. The compacted snow (base) is 1"-2" thick and provides pretty good cover of the underlying grasses and dirt spots. The base is fairly firm on the Core Loop, softer on the side trails. There's not enough snow to set a classic track, but striding is enjoyable on the current surface. In other words, skating is best on the Core Loop, striding is enjoyable throughout. Typical of early season skiing, anticipate an uneven surface with occasional dirt spots and grasses.
West Side: Ungroomed at this time with 6-7+ inches of snow covering an icy crust - enjoy bushwhacking.
IMPORTANT UPDATES
