Blue Hills Trail CONDITIONS
HINT: Reload this page to make sure you have the latest info.
This late in the season, we are limiting our grooming to several select trails where our groomers have spent loads of time the past 4 days dealing with 12+ inches of snow, blizzard strength winds, and resulting tree damage.
Here are conditions on the East Side Core Loop and Roudabout Trails that are currently groomed for skating: packed ppowder with good / very good / excellent conditions. With conditions changing daily, check back frequently for daily updates -- we hope to add classic track the morning of March 18th.
Even though the West Side Trails have been packed and rolled, the surface is a series of deep ridges that would be OK for classic skiing, but not friendly to skate skiers.
IMPORTANT UPDATES
The access road to the trailhead (Fire Lane Road) was plowed March 16th. HOWEVER, the parking lot at the warming house (East Side) has NOT BEEN PLOWED. AND Excelsior Road (access to Letter A on the West Side) has NOT BEEN PLOWED. You can reach the warming house with good tires and an adventurous spirit -- or you can park on the Fire Lane Road if in doubt. We've asked for these areas to be plowed, hopefully that happens soon.
snowfall
March 15: 7" dense wind blown snow (flour-like consistency)
March 12-13: 5" wet snow overnight
